Does anyone know what vehicle tax classification a Fox should be? Mine has an in-service date of 1975 and is classed as Private HGV by the DVLA, which means it needs a goods vehicle test certificate. Thanks, Graham Trueman

Hi Fox is less than 6.5 Tonnes and Just over 7 Tonnes battle weight,
it can be driven on a PLG Licence infact due to the pre-select gearbox
you can drive it on an old Automatic licence !!!!.

Lots of them have been registered previously, so the DVLA have plenty of
reference material if they need it.

They are getting a bit funny about registering Military vehicles at the moment
and may ask to come out and see it for themselves.

They are MOT exempt. You can register it as a motor tractor, since it was built primarily to transport the Rarden. I was given these details: Steve Whitehart and Dick Underwood at the D.O.T. 01792 454 306, we called them when we did ours and they were happy for it to be exempt.

Sorted. Private HGV is correct but it needs a Form V112G, downloadable from DVLA, to accompany payment at local DVLA office. This exempts you from the requirement for a Goods Vehicle Test Certificate. Just a shame 10FD04 is too "young" for classic vehicle. Thanks to everybody.
